The Problem of Meaning in Contemporary Iraqi Sculpture

The concept of meaning is one of the most important topics that have occupied the mind of the recipient and critic in all the arts, especially the plastic arts, where we find that the art of contemporary plastic art, in particular sculpture has multiple readings and many critics differed in terms of different reading and views of the same artistic achievement.

This research will identify the different works of contemporary Iraqi sculptors while presenting and studying their works, as well as (studying the problem of meaning) of the artistic achievements of the sculptors in particular. The various parties interested in Iraqi sculpture did not seize the problem of the objective and subjective meaning of contemporary Iraqi sculptures. Against this, we find that the research process started from the first chapter, where it deals from the beginning with (the problem of research), which starts from the important and controversial question: (Why does reading change from one intellectual direction to another?) And then the research goes to (the importance of research and its goal). Then (the limits of the search and the definition of the most important terms). The second chapter includes three sections, the first of which is entitled (The Concept of Meaning in Aesthetic Philosophical Thought) through touching on the most important objective concepts in general and the individual subjective concepts embodied in the artist himself in addition to mentioning the most important works that clarify these concepts and referring them to the philosophical direction to which they belong. The second section of the theoretical framework was entitled (the concept of meaning in the aesthetic critical thinking) to address the most important artists and international works that illustrate the concept of global sculpture and the problem of meaning in it, as well as the critical reading of a collection of works of art, which was referred to read according to the critical direction, transmitted from the meaning. The third section of the second and final chapter will be about (the meaning between objectivity and subjectivity in contemporary international sculpture) and will talk specifically about the international and Iraqi art and its contemporary sculptors, as well as the subjective and objective thought that this research stressed as the basis of the subject of our research. Finally, the third chapter of this research will include the methodology used in the analysis of the sample, the descriptive analytical method, and then the research community and the sample chosen intentionally for the purpose of achieving the research goal, as well as the analysis tool adopted for the analysis of the sample, and finally collecting the data obtained by the researcher for the purpose of checking the data and information as accurate and correct in the analysis.

The researcher then selected artistic achievements from the work of Iraqi artists with multiple meaning (compatible with the research) for the purpose of achieving the research goal, and then describing and analyzing them according to the descriptive analytical method. The fourth and final chapter in this research talks about the most important (findings and conclusions) reached by this research, and then (recommendations and suggestions) recommended by the researcher, and then came the list of sources adopted in this research

Mural Photography Techniques

The study aimed to study the role of technology in the production of the mural photography, and to develop its concept to the viewer, through the achievement of the aesthetic and functional vision. Through this study, some types of these techniques, which are organically related to architecture, were identified.

The mural photography includes a huge amount of techniques, and methods, and the researcher presented them through five techniques: (AlTamira, Alfresk, acrylic, mosaic, and glass art, which takes the architectural character.

The research consists of:

Methodological framework: research problem, research objectives, research limits, importance of research, and definition of terms.

Theoretical framework: The first section: techniques and mechanisms of construction in the mural art that has been distinguished through the ages.

The second section: techniques used in the mural photography.

Techniques in mural photography are multiple in implementation, where we find some of which is competent in accepted ways methods, and others related to the surface of the wall or the surface to add the mural painting for the architectural form.

The procedural framework includes: research community - samples analysis - research methodology and then the researcher reached a number of results:

The study aimed to develop the concept of the mural painting of the viewer, starting from the originality of thought and based on plastic principles and aesthetic values with high content, taking into account the element of raw materials and techniques that develop the traditional concept of mural photography art for the artist and the recipient, in addition to supporting and reviving the idea of organic link of the mural painting with architecture, on the one hand, and the interior design, on the other hand. The issue of the public in the directions and theories of the theater director in the world theater, especially after the emergence of realism and the crystallization of the term direction and the definition of the role of the director in 1850 AD by the Duke Max Mengen took different paths to the Greek, Roman and even Elizabethan audience because it was here subjected to the theatrical equation from its production and presentation due to the fact that the theatrical performance is a technical artistic production, and the audience participation, watching and consumption, and here the participation of the audience was subjected to three directions: the enlightenment in the sense of arousing sense, the incitement in the sense of thinking and criticism, and ritualism in the sense of provoking panic and anxiety. The audience in the modern era is no longer a substitute or representative of the nation as it is for the Greeks and is no longer general, broad representative of various societal groups as it is during the Elizabethan era, so the audience diversified and multiplied depending on the layer of direction treatment and intellectual and aesthetic starting points of the directors. Thus the modern currents exceeded the easy traditional concept of the theatre.

The audience entered the game of the play, rather the theater performances created technical determinants that contributed to attracting the theater audience as a participant in the show such as live theater shows, Sun Theater, basement and Café Theater, and open theater. Based on what is presented, the research problem arises in the following question:

Since the participation of the audience in the directing process is not new, it has roots that extend to the era of the Greeks, then what are the intellectual and aesthetic ranges taken by this relationship through the new forms of perception and expression of the most prominent international directors who opposed the realistic trend in theater and looked at the relationship between the actor and the receiver with a different view and through the display ( Oh Lord!) as a procedural application

The theatrical lighting, colors and landscapes have become parts in the composition of a new life component in form and content and based on the above this research is titled (the characteristics of the artistic construction of light and color focus in the theater performance). The problem of the research is focusing on the subject of treatments in the field of color and light within the theatrical performance, which needs a lot of study and research for the purpose of establishing the foundations and criteria for it, especially as it is a modern subject that needs extensive studies. The research was based on the following question: (What are the characteristics of the artistic construction of light and color focus in the theatrical performance?) The aim of the research is to identify those characteristics that focused on making these two elements a goal in the process of focus, whether on the actor or theatrical scene, through the successful experience in the field of this type of theater, whether in Iraq or elsewhere. Given the importance of focusing on the aesthetics of the acting performance and theater scene by light and color and even the lines of the design of the theater scene, the importance of research lies in how to use this process and identify the treatments and problems within this topic and to reach the optimal uses of the focus process. The objective limits of the research are the characteristics of the intellectual and aesthetic dimensions of the focus of light and color in the theatrical performance, while the spatial limit is the theater of the Division of Art and Cultural Activities in the presidency of the University of Baghdad, while the temporal limit is the year 2015. The importance and limits of the research as well as the definition of terms have been included.

The theoretical framework consists of three sections, the first is (intensity and abundance of light as a photo concentration element) and the second section (characteristics of light exposure and its impact on the scene), while the third section includes the topic (aesthetics of color concentration in theatrical lighting). The researcher followed the descriptive approach and the method of content analysis. For the purpose of analyzing the sample, the theoretical framework, which tackles the literature related to the subject of the research, was utilized to contribute to the achievement of the research objective. The research used samples such as (the play of the birds' owner in wasted time) and (the play of shelters). The analysis was based on them. The researcher presented the most important findings and conclusions reached at , and one of the results obtained by the researcher was that in the case of the presence of many symbols and connotations within the presentation this requires the use of light and color focus in order to give the group of symbols or each individual symbol its symbolic and semantic value in a manner that fits its philosophical strength to enhance its presence as a point of attract to the recipient during the theater performance.

It also included (the importance of research) by highlighting the importance of theatrical techniques and the mechanism of contrast.
It also identified the visual stimulus of theatrical techniques in the theater show.

Objectively, I chose to study the stimuli caused by theatrical techniques in the theatrical show.
The (theoretical framework) included two sections, the first of which is concerned with the study of directorial methods and their importance in detailing technical stimuli.
The second section dealt with the technical stimulus and performing it in the Arab - Iraqi theater. The chapter concluded with indicators that resulted from the theoretical framework.

-Are the products of students of the Department of Art Education in the handicraft material depend on the raw materials that are not used, and re-used in artistic works bearing aesthetic and innovative character?

The importance of research has been demonstrated by the following:

The teacher of art education gets benefit in the development of his skills.
It is useful for the students of the Department of Art Education to emphasize the aesthetic and educational values of the materials used in the artistic products. The research also aims at revealing the aesthetic and functional dimensions of the environmental waste in the products of the students of Department of Art Education. The research is limited to the products of the third year students in the Department of Art Education/ college of Fine Arts/ university of Baghdad, those who continue to study for 2016-2017.

The research dealt with the concept of beauty and aesthetic function and the concept of the environment and its types and environmental waste.

The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach in analyzing the samples. The research tool was a test form. The Cooper equation was used to extract the percentage of agreement among the experts. The form achieved the face validity after the amendment of some items. Stability was verified using Scott's equation where two analysts were selected to analyze the results. The ratio was 85% between the first analyst and the researcher and 90% between the second analyst and the researcher. Thus, stability has been achieved. The most important results reached by the researcher were that most of the products of the students of the Department of Art Education were limited to specific raw materials in addition to that they were repeated and away from new ideas, but were characterized by accuracy, workmanship and cleanliness.

Tourist Resting Units and their Design Methods in the Iraqi Marshlands

The second chapter dealt with three sections the first of which is tourism in the marsh environment, the second one dealt with the structure of tourist space and the third dealt with the design methods of the tourist resting units in the Iraqi marshes.

Use of Solar Energy and its Relationship to the Design Variables of Street Furniture

The research deals with solar energy as one of the sources of renewable energies available in Iraq, which can be utilized. The research aims to identify the design pillars of the use of solar energy in street furniture and its relationship to formal variables. The research limits included street furniture manufactured by JCDecaux in Boston during the period 2015-2016, and included the theoretical framework which consists of two sections: solar energy (its beginnings and uses), and solar energy and its uses in Street furniture design.

As far as the research procedures and methodology are concerned, it adopted the descriptive approach in describing and analyzing the sample models in addition to describing and analyzing the sample in its three models according to the axes of analysis which were formulated based on the results of the theoretical framework indicators. The main findings and conclusions were:

The use of solar systems has shown its impact on the formal and functional variables of the product.
The solar systems were employed in all designs intentionally built on the basis of the capabilities of those systems and the need of the energy units, thereby achieving a design building associated with the achievement of the effectiveness of functional performance.

The most important design pillars were:

Emphasizing the importance of solar energy and the variables achieved on the products employed in them taking into account the design characteristics of the product and the formation of treatments for the requirements of the functional and aesthetic sides.

The need to invest and employ modern technologies in the design of street furniture units, as the use of modern technologies will contribute to the activation of the functions of these units and reflects the image of the intellectual, scientific and cultural level of the country

The use of the Iraqi song in the symphony orchestra is one of the pioneering and important works, which carries with it an artistic value of aesthetic specificity in how to use the Iraqi singing heritage. The research aimed to identify the employment of the song (Foug Al-Nakhl) and its works within the Iraqi national symphony orchestra music by the author Hans Count Momer whose works still have a great influence on the authors of the Iraqi orchestra. The researcher presented a brief introduction to the Iraqi Symphony Orchestra, a brief introduction about the author, and the trends of world music towards heritage. He also talked about musical composition, research procedures and tools, and applying the tool to the selected sample (Foug Al-Nakhl). Then, the sample was analyzed and the results were reached as follows: the song was used in its traditional form in addition to the secondary tunes and was dealt with in the language of the orchestra and its expressions in the international orchestral composition
