Abstract

Theater is a form of expression of human feelings and various thoughts that come to mind, which drives him to artistic uses that crystallize through speech and movement. In addition, the theater's appeals began to take multiple forms and types through systems characterized by diverse concept cases from which each type emerged separately, especially since dance theater is one of those systems, as it came from a human demand that crystallized from the goal of human will to express himself, especially after the emergence of rituals and dances as a practice of these rituals, so choreography appeared as a revolution in classical ballet. The researcher seeks to uncover the mechanisms of employing choreography in contemporary Iraqi theatrical performance. Research objective: To uncover choreography in contemporary Iraqi theatrical performance. The second chapter includes two topics: the first: The emergence of choreography: ritual dance, and the second: The second topic: Between choreography and traditional dialogue theater. As for the research sample, the intentional sample was adopted to serve the research process and its directions, and the most important results and conclusions, that the theatrical performance, especially (choreography), derives its topics from the primitive ritual that was crowned with traditional primitiveness. Choreography is considered one of the most important expressive body languages derived from ritual primitiveness with an evolution in the genes of primitive dance to reach us framed by the frameworks of aesthetic formation of movement
