The connotations and symbols of Islamic art and their impact on European ceramics (Spain as a model)

Abstract

Andalusian ceramics are one of the most prominent manifestations of Islamic art in Andalusia. They combine aesthetic function with symbolic decoration, reflecting the depth of Islamic thought and local culture. This art played an important role in expressing Islamic identity through the shapes, colors, and symbols used in it. Andalusian ceramics embodies a profound art form bearing philosophical and religious symbols that express the spirit of Islamic civilization in Andalusia. This art was not merely a superficial decoration, but rather a means of expressing identity, values, and monotheism through simple yet profoundly influential visual media.

The research is divided into four chapters:

The first chapter addresses the research problem, which is represented by the following question: What are the most prominent Islamic connotations and symbols that have left an effective impact on the nature of European ceramics?

The second chapter includes three sections:

The first section: Characteristics of Islamic art; the second section: Connotations and symbols in Islamic art; the third section: Reflections and interrelationships of Islamic art in Spanish visual art; and indicators of the theoretical framework.

Chapter Three: It included the research methodology, the research community, and sample analysis. Chapter Four: It reviews the results, conclusions, and recommendations. The researcher had reached a number of results that were consistent with the nature of the research objectives. After that, the researcher reviewed the scientific sources used.
