The designer seeks ways to use the characteristics of designing a special space for people with special needs, including autistic children, to enable them to learn and to provide support by achieving compatibility with the nature of the autistic child through effective and developed design systems that promote a positive feeling. The study contained four chapters. The first chapter included the research problem, formulated as follows: What are the design characteristics of educational interior spaces and their effectiveness for autistic children’s education centers? The second chapter presented the theoretical framework of the research, shedding light on important aspects related to the subject through three sections: the characteristics of interior design in educational environments, the concept of autism, and the design characteristics and sensory perception of autism centers. The third chapter addressed the research methodology and its community, including a selected model in the city of Baghdad. After analyzing the interior space of the model according to the indicators of the theoretical framework, the researcher reached a set of results presented in the fourth chapter.
