يُعدّ البحث عن التصميم المستدام في الصناعات الحرفية العراقية وطرق تطويرها أمرأً ضرورياً للحفاظ على التراث الثقافي وأصالة هذه الصناعات مع تعزيز الممارسات المستدامة بيئياً قد يؤدي عدم الوصول إلى التقنيات والمعرفة والموارد الحديثة إلى إعاقة نمو هذه الصناعات وقدرتها على المنافسة في السوق العالمية, تدور مشكلة البحث حول إيجاد طرق لتطوير التصميم المستدام في الصناعات الحرفية العراقية. تشمل نتائج هذا البحث تعريفاً واضحاً للتصميم المستدام وفهم تاريخ التصميم المستدام في الصناعة الحرفية وتحديد أنواع مختلفة من الصناعات الحرفية في العراق ، استكشاف المفاهيم الأساسية للتصميم المستدام وتقييم فاعلية معالجة القصب وسعف النخيل وتحديد المواد الطبيعية التي يمكن استخدامها في المنتجات الصناعية الحرفية في العراق ويمكن أن يساهم هذا البحث في تطوير الصناعات الحرفية المستدامة والتنافسية في العراق التي تتوافق مع مبادئ التصميم المستدام وتحافظ على التراث الثقافي للبلاد وتعزز التنمية المستدامة
