The Aesthetics of the Monad in Contemporary World Sculpture

Abstract

The structure of sculptural achievements in the contemporary world has not followed a specific formal or intellectual path, but rather has witnessed clear variations in aesthetic visions and approaches. This difference was not limited to technical methods alone but also extended to the deep conceptual structure of the sculptural work. Many sculptors have turned to exploring the essence inherent in matter and form, which made the concept of the monad emerge as a philosophical and aesthetic vision expressing the inner unity and self-sufficiency of the artistic achievement. The importance of this concept lies in granting sculpture an ontological dimension that transcends the material appearance toward the unique essence of existence within each work. Therefore, this research aims to study the aesthetics of the monad in contemporary world sculpture by tracing how the idea of the complete individual entity has manifested within the structures of modern sculpture, and how this vision contributed to the formation of new forms that reflect the independence and uniqueness of form amid the diversity of experiences and approaches in global art.
