تناول البحث الحالي الدلالة الرمزية وفاعليتها في تصميم المنتج الصناعي ،الخطاب التواصلي الجمالي الذي يجسد الخيال والوجدان الإنساني، وقد رافق الإنسان منذ بداية نشأتهُ وتعلمه لأولى فعالياته الأساسية والذي كان بمثابة اللغة التي يشير بها الإنسان الى شيء أو معنى معين بحيث يعرف عن طريق هذه الدلالة مباشرة سواء بحسب ما أصطلح العرف عليه أو ما أقرته التقاليد منذ زمن بعيد ، فالرمزية قد تكون الفاعل الاساس في ربط المكونات التعريفية للمنتج فضلا عن ان الرمزية تقدم للمستخدم مفتاح الوصول الى ادراك مباشر لشكل المنتج ووظيفته , كهوية تعريفية للمنتج من خلال تحفيز الشكل الرمزي لخيال المستهلك ودعوته للتأمل لإدراك المعنى الضمني الكامن خلف تلك الأشكال وبذلك تتحقق رمزية العمل ، حيث تناول البحث في الاطار النظري الى (الدلالة الرمزية في التصميم الصناعي، أنواع الدلالة، الدلالات الرمزية للعناصر البنائية التصميمية، المعالجات اللونية في الأنظمة التصميمية ودلالاتها الرمزية، الضوء والشفافية في الأنظمة التصميمة ودلالاتهما الرمزية، المواد الذكية و دلالة الفكر التصميمي )
