وصولاً الى المرتكزات الاساسية لموضوع البحث (البنى الداعمة للتعدد الوظيفي في الفضاءات الداخلية (الشقق محدودة المساحة انموذجاً) حددت مشكلة البحث وفقاً للتساؤل الاتي: كيفية تفعيل البنى للفضاءات الداخلية محدودة المساحة؟
وحدد هدف البحث على النحو الاتي: يهدف البحث الى الكشف عن مدى امكانية توظيف البنى في الفضاءات الداخلية محدودة المساحة. كما وحدد البحث بثلاث حدود وعرفت المصطلحات التي لها علاقة بموضوع البحث (البنى، التعدد الوظيفي، الفضاء الداخلي)، اما الفصل الثاني فقد ضم مبحثين الاول (البنى والوظيفة)، اما الثاني (الفضاءات الداخلية السكنية وتعدد الوظيفة فيها). كما وتم جمع الإطار النظري بمجموعة مؤشرات ساعدت الباحثة على عمل استمارة محاول التحليل.
