ينطلق البحث من فرضية أن القيادة الموسيقية أكثر من كونها تنظيم وتحديد الإيقاع بل تتعدى ذلك الى التحفيز وخلق الرؤية الفنية وقدرة عالية على التواصل اللفظي وغير اللفظي، وتتنوّع تلك المهارات بين فنية تقنية وأخرى شخصية، وقد أحتوى البحث على أربعة فصول، الفصل الأول يعرض الإطار المنهجي للبحث ويضم مشكلة البحث وأهمية وهدف البحث الذي تحدد بدراسة مهارات قيادة الأوركسترا من وجهة نظر عازفي الفرقة السيمفونية العراقية، ثم حدود البحث وتحديد المصطلحات، فيما تناول الفصل الثاني الإطار النظري وعرض أدبيات البحث فضلاً عن مؤشرات الإطار النظري، أما الفصل الثالث فقد تضمّن عرضاً إجراءات البحث من منهج بحث وهو المنهج الوصفي التحليلي ومجتمع وعينة البحث والتي تم اختيارها بالطريقة الطبقية، ثم أداة البحث والتي أعتمد الباحث على استمارة استبيان مخصصة لتحقيق هدف البحث وزّعت على عازفي الفرقة السيمفونية العراقية بهدف رصد استجابتهم ومعرفة آرائهم تجاه موضوع البحث، أما الفصل الرابع تناول نتائج وإستنتاجات البحث ثم توصيات ومقترحات البحث وانتهاءاً بقائمة المصادر.
